    Bio:

Given his formidable success in numerous arenas of the entertainment industry, the multi-talented Will Smith qualifies as an original “Renaissance man.” Although Smith initially gained fame as the rap star Fresh Prince prior to the age of 20, (with constant MTV airplay and blockbuster record sales), he cut his chops as an A-list Hollywood actor on the small and big screens in successive years, unequivocally demonstrating his own commercial viability and sturdy appeal to a broad cross section of viewers.

A Philadelphia native, Smith entered the world on September 25, 1968. The son of middle-class parents (his father owned a refrigeration company and his mother worked for the school board) and the second of four children, Smith started rapping from the age of 12, and earned the nickname “Prince” thanks to his ability to slickly talk his way out of trouble. Smith engendered this moniker as a household phrase when he officially formed the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, with fellow performer Jeff Townes in 1986. That team netted two Grammys (one for the seminal 1988 youth anthem “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and one for the 1991 single “Summertime”) and scored commercially with a series of albums up through their disbandment in 1993 that did much to dramatically broaden the age range of rap listeners (unlike artists in the gangsta rap subgenre, Smith and Townes never ventured into R- or X-rated subject matter or language). However, by the time he was 21, Smith had frittered away much of his fortune and had fallen into debt with the IRS. Help arrived in the form of Warner Bros. executive Benny Medina, who wanted to create a family-friendly sitcom based on his own experiences as a poor kid living with a rich Beverly Hills family, starring the genial Smith. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air debuted on NBC on September 10, 1990, and became a runaway hit, lasting six seasons. The program imparted to Smith — who had turned down an MIT scholarship to pursue his career — even wider audience exposure as the show’s protagonist, introducing him to legions of viewers who fell outside of the rap market.

During Prince’s lengthy run, Smith began to branch out into film work. Following roles in Where the Day Takes You (1992) and Made in America (1993), he drew substantial critical praise on the arthouse circuit, as a young gay con man feigning an identity as Sidney Poitier’s son, in Six Degrees of Separation (1993), directed by Fred Schepisi and adapted by John Guare from his own play. Smith also elicited minor controversy around this time for remarks he made in an interview that some perceived as homophobic. In 1994, Smith and Martin Lawrence signed on with powerhouse producers Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer to co-star in the action-comedy Bad Boys, in which the two play a hotshot pair of Miami cops; it eventually raked in over 141 million dollars worldwide. The following year, Smith topped his Bad Boys success (and then some) with a turn in the sci-fi smash Independence Day, the effects-laden tale of an alien invasion. Co-written, executive-produced, and directed by Roland Emmerich for 20th Century Fox, this picture eventually pulled in over 816 million dollars globally, making it not only the top grosser of 1996, but one of the most lucrative motion pictures in history. Smith then tackled the same thematic ground (albeit in a completely different genre), as a government-appointed alien hunter partnered up with Tommy Lee Jones in Barry Sonnenfeld’s zany comedy Men in Black (1997), another smash success.

Not long after this, Smith achieved success on a personal front as well, as he married actress Jada Pinkett on New Year’s Eve 1998. The following autumn, Smith returned to cinemas with Enemy of the State, a conspiracy thriller with Gene Hackman that had him on the run from government agents. That film scored a commercial bull’s-eye, but its triumph preceded a minor disappointment. The following summer, Smith starred opposite Kevin Kline in Wild Wild West, Sonnenfeld’s lackluster follow-up to Men in Black, an overwrought and ham-handed cinematic rendering of the late-’60s TV hit.

The late fall of 2000 found Smith back in cinemas, playing a mysterious golf caddy who tutors down-on-his-luck putter Matt Damon in the syrupy The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000). Smith then trained rigorously for his most demanding role up to that point: that of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in director Michael Mann’s biopic Ali (2001). The film struggled to find an audience, and critics were mixed, even if Smith’s well-studied performance earned praise as well as his first Oscar nomination. While Smith executive produced the Robert De Niro/Eddie Murphy comedy Showtime (2002), he doubled it up with work in front of the camera, on the sci-fi comedy sequel Men in Black II, also helmed by Barry Sonnenfeld. As expected, the film made an unholy amount of money; he followed it up with yet another sequel, the Bruckheimer-produced Bad Boys II. It topped the box office, as expected. The next year saw Smith pull the one-two punch of I, Robot — a futuristic, effects-laden fantasy — and the CG-animated Shark Tale, in which he voiced Oscar, a little fish with a big attitude who scrubs whales for a living. While Smith had proven himself as an action star time and again and had received high marks for his dramatic work, it remained to be seen if he could carry a romantic comedy. All speculation ceased in early 2005 with the release of Hitch: Starring Smith as a fabled “date doctor,” the film had the biggest opening weekend for a rom-com to date, leading many to wonder if there was anything Smith couldn’t do.

The following year, Smith starred in the period drama The Pursuit of Happyness. Set in early-’80s San Francisco, and directed by Gabriele Muccino (a director specifically summoned for the task by Smith), the film recounted the true story of Charles Gardner (Smith), a single dad struggling in an unpaid position as an intern at Dean Witter, all in an effort to be able provide for his son. The film tapped new reserves of compassion and desparation in Smith’s persona, as he managed to fully embody another real-life character while maintaining all of the qualities that endeared him to audiences in the first place: His humor, his hustle and his ingenuity. Upon its release, Happyness provided Smith with perhaps his first cinematic hat trick: critical praise, a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actor, and staggering box-office success (the film would become one of his largest hits). Meanwhile, he began work as the lead in I Am Legend (2007), the third screen incarnation of sci-fi giant Richard Matheson’s seminal novel of the same title (following a 1964’s The Last Man on Earth, and 1971’s The Omega Man).

    Trivia:

Will Smith is an enthusiast for the game of chess.

He says he has a very healthy relationship with God, due to a Christian upbringing, and has always lived a very moral life. Bow Wow and Smith have officially placed the feud in the past.

Known for his profanity-free lyrics, Will Smith has dropped “f***” (although it was bleeped out) in only one of his songs, “Tell Me Why” (From his album Lost & Found). Quotes:

[On his first season of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (1990)] “I was trying so hard. I would memorize the entire script, then I’d be lipping everybody’s lines while they were talking. When I watch those episodes, it’s disgusting. My performances were horrible.”

“On the change in his body that Ali’s intense physical training required: “I’m human viagra. I’m Willagra. I’m a sex machine now. I’m raring to go every second of the day. My wife’s loving it.”"

“My biggest emotional defeat and the greatest emotional pain I’ve had as an actor was when ‘Wild Wild West’ opened up to $52 million. The movie wasn’t good. And it hurt so bad to be the No. 1 movie, to open at $52 million and to know the movie wasn’t good.”

“I want to stop at five.” when asked by Jules Asner about having more children.”

“When I turned 28, everything clicked. I even got way better in bed.”

“It’s a whole different thing being an actor. A rapper is about being completely true to yourself. Being an actor is about changing who you are. You make yourself a different person. You become a different person.”

“You’re so much stronger when your partner is strong. I honestly believe there is no woman for me but Jada. Of all the women I’ve met - and there’ve been a few - no one can handle me the way Jada does. Once you feel someone locked in on you, it’s no contest. As fine as other women can be, as tempting sexually, I’m not going anywhere. This is it. I can’t imagine what anyone else could offer.”

“I love being black in America, and especially being black in Hollywood.”

“I really believe that a man and a woman together, raising a family, is the purest form of happiness we can experience.”

“If you’re not willing to work hard, let someone else do it. I’d rather be with someone who does a horrible job, but gives 110% than with someone who does a good job and gives 60%.”

“People laugh, but if I set my mind to it, within the next 15 years I would be president.”

“My grandmother once told me, ‘Don’t let failure go to your heart and don’t let success go to your head.’”

[on Star Wars] “I might have been eight or nine. That was the movie that put me into a space where the science fiction element was almost a spiritual connection for me. I thought, if someone could imagine that and then put it on a screen and make me feel like that… and my entire career I’ve been trying to make people feel like Star Wars made me feel.”

“Too many people spend money they haven’t earned to buy things they don’t want to impress people they don’t like.”

About Aishwarya Rai: “I really wanted to work with her in _Hitch (2005)_ but she was shooting for Bride and Prejudice (2004) at the time and she couldn’t do it. She has this powerful energy where she doesn’t have to say anything, do anything, she can just stand there. Anything she’s making, I’ll be there.” (February 2006)

“If I weren’t a musician/actor, I’d be a computer engineer. I was always good at math. I probably would have been the guy who invented the remote control if I’d been around then.”

“When I started in movies, I said, ‘I want to be the biggest movie star in the world.’ The biggest movie stars make the biggest movies, so [my producing partner James Lassiter and I] looked at the top 10 movies of all time. At that point, they were all special-effects movies. So Independence Day, no-brainer. Men in Black, no-brainer. I, Robot, no-brainer.”

[on refusing to kiss Anthony Michael Hall in Six Degrees of Separation (1993)] “It was very immature on my part. I was thinking, ‘How are my friends in Philly going to think about this?’ I wasn’t emotionally stable enough to artistically commit to that aspect of the film. In a movie with actors and a director and writer of this caliber, for me to be the one bringing something cheesy to it… This was a valuable lesson for me. Either you do it or you don’t.”

“Give me a problem, I’ll give you a solution. I just love living. That’s a feeling you can’t fake. I’m glad every single day. I think that even the camera can feel that I’m a happy man.”

    Quotes:

“Mom always tells me to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness. I like the way that sounds.”

“My life is very crazy and busy, but I love it that way. ”

“I love clothes. I can’t control myself. I have a huge fetish for shoes and clothes and make-up. I’m the kind of person who doesn’t like to wear things over and over again.”

“I love my mom. I totally look up to her, and she just doesn’t let anybody take advantage of me. People might call that a stage mom.”

“It’s crazy and so surreal. I feel like such a normal person, yet everybody around the world knows my music, my movie, my name and my face. It’s crazy sometimes, but I’m so flattered. It’s a good feeling.” - on her life and career.

“My sister (Haylie Duff) and I are best friends and we get along so well. She is so talented and inspiring to me. She’s my role model.”

“In high school, kids deal with such harsh things that people don’t realize can really affect their entire lives. They are so interested in getting the boyfriends and wearing low cut shirts so the boys will like them. That shouldn’t be their goal. They shouldn’t do things for other people, they should do things if they have dreams of their own and really work hard for that.”

“We raise so much money for hospitals, but it’s not just about that. Anybody can come up with a bunch of money to give to somebody. It’s about going to a hospital and hanging out with the kids and dancing and singing with them or giving underprivileged kids a chance to go to a theme park for a day or rebuilding a playground. I love it so much. It’s really gratifying.” - on her work for the charity Kids With a Cause.”

“Mom always tells me to celebrate everyone’s uniqueness. I like the way that sounds.”

“I think ambition can be having something that you’re good at and love to do.”

“Every week I read about myself in a magazine, about something that I haven’t done or some place that I’ve never been or don’t even know. It’s just gossip, rumors, egos, and politics.”

“As a child I was shy. Haylie would be the one to go up and talk to people.”

“We’re still a very tight-knit family, even though we live apart a lot. And now Haylie and I get to work together more and more. We’re really close.”

“I love doing emotional scenes. As I’ve had a perfect life I don’t really have much to pull from. But it’s really fun and not that challenging. It’s almost pretty easy. The hardest thing is to try and make people laugh. That’s a really hard thing.”

“I don’t think the Disney Channel gives us enough credit for the age range Lizzie McGuire actually has. College students come up to me, grandparents, famous people. It’s really funny.”

    Quotes:

(on not needing to watch any porn to research her role as a porn star in the movie, “I Want Candy”) “I didn’t really need to do any research for the part, like watch lots of porn films. I’ve already seen enough!”

(on keeping in shape) “I do a lot of yoga and aerobics. Plus, you can burn a lot of calories in the bedroom too. I get a lot of guys coming up to me who have bought my striptease DVD and they thank me because their girls have learnt hot to give them amazing lap dances. I eat a lot of junk - while I was in the UK I ate so many Flake chocolate bars! I once had a job dressed as a clown and I had to pop corn in a shoe store. The problem was I ate so much popcorn I got sick. I got paid $4 an hour but was probably eating more than that in popcorn.”

“I’m really into quantum physics. It gives me chills thinking about it. It’s fun.”

(on how her closet with her Hubby is off-limits!) We don’t share closet space!
“Death would be a beautiful place if it looks like Brad Pitt.”

“It’s an honor to be a part of such a legendary group of stars representing Max Factor, such as Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, … I’m so excited to start working on the campaign.”

“To the victims and people out there, our hearts are going out to them. We’re not forgetting about them.”

“People are surprised at how down-to-earth I am. I like to stay home on Friday nights and listen to ‘The Art of Happiness’ by the Dalai Lama.”

“I’m more attracted to a stronger man rather than a feminine man. Someone who would just throw me down and take control. I love feeling helpless. I definitely like a man who is aggressive and confident.”

“Dancing is my number one love. That was my first goal as a child. I would love to do stage, maybe do Chicago. I love being in front of an audience. It’s so stimulating. I also love to barbecue.”

“I was watching an HBO special the other night on real-life maximum-security-prison guys. I glanced up, and my poster was in quite a few cells. I was screaming ‘Oh, no!”

“Is there a rehab center for Coke drinkers? I drink six to eight cans a day. Her husband is Dave Navarro, from the band “Jane’s Addiction”. Has appeared in Playboy magazine multiple times, and is one of the most famous models/actresses today. Was married for a very short time to Dennis Rodman ”

Family: Father - Michael Lohan (a long-time Wall Street trader, fomer actor; filed for divorce in January 2005), Mother - Dina Lohan (a former Radio City, Sister - Aliana Lohan (born in 1994), Brother - Dakota Lohan (born on June 16, 1996), Michael Lohan (born on December 16, 1987)

    Bio:

In New York, NY, on 02 July 1986, Lindsay Lohan became the first child of a proud couple: Dina (a one-time Radio City “Rockette” and Wall Street analyst who now manages her daughter’s career) and Michael Lohan (a long-time Wall Street trader who

developed, then sold, his family’s multi-million-dollar pasta business to fund and develop major studios and independent Hollywood productions). Three siblings (Michael, Aliana and Dakota) would follow in the years to come.

Lindsay started modeling (she was the first redheaded child ever signed by the prestigious Ford Modeling Agency) and acting at the tender age of 3. People in the business quickly recognized her talent, and she was hired to shoot more than 60 commercials; including spots for Pizza Hut, Wendy’s and Jell-O (with Bill Cosby. A plum role soon followed on the television series Another World as the third actress (in late 1996 and early 1997) to play Alexandra “Alli” Fowler.

Around this time, USA Today says Lindsay also would become one of several New York-area children to appear in a Halloween skit on David Letterman, dressed as garbage (!).

It was not until 05 January 1997 that she knew she would be cast in a major motion picture. The director of The Parent Trap, Nancy Meyers, called Lindsay that day and told her that she had the part ? or is that parts ? of the twins. Lindsay proved that she is an actress of considerable skill, deftly handling two different personalities in one single movie.

Lindsay was officially recognized for her talent as well; earning a Young Artist Award for Leading Actress (which she shared with Stepmom’s Jena Malone, and nominations for a YoungStar Award and a Blockbuster Entertainment Award.

Early in 1999, Lindsay filmed another movie. Life-Size ? originally a Wonderful World of Disney production later released on home video ? allowed Lindsay to act with Tyra Banks

In 2000, Lindsay won the role of “Rose” in Bette Midler’s television sitcom, Bette. After shooting the pilot episode, the show’s producers decided it would be easier on the crew ? most of whom lived near Los Angeles ? if filming moved to California. Lindsay gave up the role to stay in New York, and Los Angeles-area actress Marina Malota was pegged to take over the role of Midler’s teen-aged daughter. The series was canceled only a few months later, due to sagging ratings and the strain on the show’s stars (ironically, Midler had to fly cross-country from her New York home to film her own show).

In June, 2001, Lindsay completed filming the role of “Lexy Gold” in Get a Clue, the Disney Channel Original Movie of the Month for January, 2002 ? later rescheduled for telecast in June, 2002.

Walt Disney Pictures announced on 31 July 2002 that Lindsay had signed on to play Anna Coleman in the theatrical remake of Freaky Friday. Updating yet another film from its vaults, Disney signed Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis(A Fish Called Wanda) as the mother-and-daughter team who wake up one day in each other’s bodies. Lohan ? who already proved she could fill Hayley Mills’ shoes and then some ? took on a role that helped propel a young Jodie Fosterto stardom.

In September, 2002, Lindsay appeared poised to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a singer when one of the biggest names in music, Emilio Estefan, Jr., took Lindsay under his professional wing. Estefan Enterprises announced a five-album production deal and the promise of an aggressive effort to “sell” her pop style “with a rock edge” to a major record label.

In 2003, Lindsay accepted the lead role in Disney’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (originally a New Line project written for Hilary Duff who had to pass due to her full schedule). Filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and in New York City, Queen is set for release early in 2004.

Later in 2003, leaving The Mouse behind (for now), Lindsay jumped over to Paramount Studios to re-team with Freaky director Mark S. Waters for Mean Girls. Principal photography ended in November, 2003. During filming, she began negotiations to star in Dramarama for Warner Bros.

“I’ll probably pursue doing more movies, but not horror or movies with killers in them. I’ll try to stick to happy movies. I want to act and direct like Jodie Foster. I admire her because she went to college and she’s still doing the same thing.”

“I’m not that girl from Freaky Friday any more! I’m a real adult. In fact, I hate children! I hate them all!”

“If I dated as many people as they said I have, then I would be dead, because it’s just not possible.”

“Life is full of risks anyway, why not take them?”

Family: Father-David Lopez (a computer specialist), Mother-Guadalupe Lopez (a kindergarten teacher), Sister-Linda Lopez (Entertainment Correspondent for WB Network), Leslie Lopez

    Bio:

A Bronx-born actress-singer-dancer of Puerto Rican descent, Jennifer Lopez quickly went from a rising starlet to leading lady, with her sultry, intelligent eyes, luxuriant wavy hair, and fluid body of legendary voluptuousness coming across well on the big screen. Lopez first won attention as a “fly girl”, one of the back-up dancers on the Fox variety series “In Living Color” and went on to act in several failed TV series before reaching the big time, leading in feature films and hitting the top of the Billboard charts. This daughter of a computer specialist and a kindergarten teacher always wanted to perform and began taking dance lessons at an early age. Lopez later danced in the European tour of “Golden Musicals of Broadway”, in the chorus behind Hinton Battle in the Japanese tour of “Synchronicity” and in numerous music videos and TV variety specials.

While she made her film debut in “My Little Girl” (1986), her real showbiz break did not come until she beat out 2,000 other aspirants, impressing choreographer Rosie Perez, and landing a spot in the chorus of “In Living Color”. Lopez stayed with the show from 1991-1993, when she elected to branch out into acting. TV roles came quickly, although the vehicles were not all that successful. She made her TV-movie debut as a nurse among crash victims in the dense Mexican jungle in “Nurses on the Line: The Crash of Flight 7″ (CBS, 1993). She went on to portray Melinda Lopez, a Latina maiden under the watchful eye of her father (Pepe Serna) in the short-lived CBS series “Second Chances” (1993-94), and repeated the role in “Hotel Malibu” (1994), an equally unsuccessful revamp of the former. She also appeared in “South Central” (Fox, 1994), as a co-worker of star Tina Lifford. In 1994, Lopez even co-hosted “Growing Up Roses” (CBS), a special recapping the best moments in Tournament of Roses Parade history.

TV proved too small a medium for Lopez, whose talent and charisma as well as hypnotic good looks cried out for the big screen. Her first feature success came with Gregory Nava’s “My Family/Mi Familia” (1995), which found her cast as the youthful version of the matriarch of the Mexican-American family, a woman who survived illegal deportation and near-drowning to return to her husband in Los Angeles. That same year, she co-starred as the pistol-packing Gloria Santiago opposite Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes in the action blockbuster “Money Train”. In 1996, she was Robin Williams’ sympathetic fifth grade teacher, (a role not specifically written for a Latina) in “Jack”, a fantasy by Francis Ford Coppola that starred Williams as a ten-year-old whose aging process is drastically accelerated.

Lopez was catapulted to prominence when she was cast in the title role of “Selena” (1997), the moving biopic about the beloved slain Tejano singer. Selena’s influential life and tragic death made for a truly compelling film, and the actress’ vibrant, intuitive portrayal set her apart from her peers and readied her for stardom. With strong reviews for her turn in the noirish thriller “Blood and Wine”, Lopez was poised for greater things, as evidenced by her casting alongside Nick Nolte and Sean Penn in Oliver Stone’s “U-Turn” (both also 1997). In 1998, Lopez solidified her leading lady status, starring opposite George Clooney in Steven Soderbergh’s subtly steamy action thriller “Out of Sight”. Displaying a winning sense of humor that added a down-to-earth charm to her undeniable sultriness, Lopez proved a good fit for heartthrob Clooney, and the two displayed the kind of onscreen fireworks that were notably missing in the actor’s prior efforts.

Winning rave reviews for her performance, Lopez was well on her way to superstardom, and made the most of her fame by releasing her debut album, a decidedly NYC-flavored dance record entitled “On the 6″ after the subway line that runs from her Bronx home into Manhattan. While the singles “If You Had My Love” and “Waiting For Tonight” tore up the charts and pumped out of nightclub speakers, Lopez was enjoying more screen success as the star of the odd sci-fi thriller “The Cell” (2000). Directed by famed commercial and music video visionary Tarsem, the film drew from various art influences, and made up for lagging plot devices with an sweet dose of eye candy. Lopez outfitted in ornate, elaborate and futuristic garb pleased audiences, though her courageous but slightly stilted performance as a child psychologist with a talent for probing the subconscious was less remarkable. In 2001, she tried her hand at fluffy romantic comedy, playing “The Wedding Planner” who quite literally falls for the groom (Matthew McConaughey). Lopez showed a surprising talent for the sillier side of things, and convincingly ditched her glamorous image for one of a frazzled workaholic prone to pratfalls and other embarrassing mishaps. Audiences flocked to the feel-good comedy, and the final week in January 2001 saw the film as well as her newly-released album “J.Lo” hit the top of their respective charts simultaneously.

Keeping up her career’s positive momentum, Lopez starred as a policewoman who falls for Jim Caviezel in the romantic thriller “Angel Eyes”(2001). In 2002, Lopez starred in Michael Apted’s thiller/drama “Enough”. In this film, Lopez played an abused woman who realized that the only way to escape her abuser (her husband) was to kill him. Both “Angel Eyes” and “Enough” performed wanly at the box office, but Lopez, who also released the poorly reviewed but popular album “This is Me…” in 2002, remained one of the most talked-about performers of her generation and a perennial fixture on magazine covers and entertainment news shows–a status that went into overdrive following her 2002 engagement to actor Ben Affleck. Her next film cast her in a mild, “Pretty Woman”-esque Cinderella mode for “Maid in Manhattan” (2002), in which she played a housekeeper at a high class New York hotel who falls for a handsome politician (Ralph Finnes).

Lopez’s public profile reached critical mass with the release of “Gigli” (2003), the mob-based action-comedy on which she first met (and presumably fell for) Affleck. After months of media hype surrounding the “Bennifer” relationship, public expectation of an on-screen romance between Lopez and Affleck was so high, the film was the subject of extensive reshooting and reconfiguring to accomodate the perceptions, although Lopez’s character was written and initially shot as a confirmed lesbian. The film, a gangster action-comedy in which Affleck plays an incompotent mob thug, was the victim of bad buzz for months before its release and received a critical drubbing–possibly even an over-harsh response–when it finally hit theaters, giving it almost “Ishtar”-like bomb status. Lopez continued to exist at the eye of the media storm when she and Affleck called off their wedding in September 2003 and split for good in early 2004, followed by press reports that she sought solace with Latin singing sensation Marc Anthony. Meanwhile, the “Bennifer” backlash was so intense, the makers of the next Affleck-Lopez collaboration, writer-director Kevin Smith’s middling romantic comedy “Jersey Girl” (2004) extremely downplayed Lopez’s involvement (and indeed, her role was small and brief, playing Affleck’s doomed wife in the film’s opening sequences). The final shocker came five months after the Lopez-Affleck split when Lopez suddenly married the newly divorced Anthony in surprise ceremony that perhaps solidified her off-screen reputation as the Elizabeth Taylor of her generation–although the couple took eight months before officially confirming their marriage and refused to discuss it further.

In midst of her busy life as a celebrity, Lopez also continued to make films: she was paired opposite Richard Gere as an icy dance instructor who rediscovers her passions as she teaches Gere’s obsessed family man how to move across the dance floor in the romance “Shall We Dance?” (2004), a role that made great use of her prowess as a dancer. In 2005 Lopez–who announced that she preferred it if the media dropped the “J-Lo” monicker–made headlines with her live duet with Anthony at the 47th annual Grammy Awards (their over-the-top, melodramatic performance of the song “Escapémonos” was snickered at by critics of her musical ability, though Anthony took home the Grammy for best Latin pop album for “Amar Sin Mentiras”) and she demonstrated her continual entreprenurial spirit with a new fragrance launch, the debut of her Sweetface clothing line (which prompted protests from animal activists due to its use of fur), and a new album, “Rebirth,” a return to club-style dance beats which launched to initially disappointing sales. Her next film, the comedy “Monster-In-Law” (2005), pitted her effectively against screen legend Jane Fonda (in her first role in 15 years): in the film Lopez’s sweet-natured temp finds the man of her dreams, only to be menaced by his meddling, over-protective mother who hopes to drive her away. Candy-sweet on the outside at first, Lopez eventually reveals the inner steel that made her more than a match for the icon Fonda. Her next film, Lasse Halstrom’s “An Unfinished Life” (2005) was released long after completion due to the complexities of the restructuring of Miramax following the departure of Bob and Harvey Weinstein, and while Lopez generally recieved good notices for her role as a widowed mother in an abusive relationship who seeks shelter with her estranged father-in-law (Robert Redford),

The actress also developed and executive produced the TV series “South Beach” (UPN, 2005 - ), an ensemble drama about three young adults whose dreams and aspirations lead them to Miami. She next was set to star in “Bridge and Tunnel” (lensed 2006), a romantic comedy in which she played a stock trader who depends on a suburban teen who day-trades on his home computer.

    Quotes:

“And I deal with all that by being like a perfectionist. But that’s okay.”

“And I love the idea of spending the whole day in bed with my lover.”

“And I never ask what I’m doing the next day. I don’t want to know what I’m doing tomorrow. It’s much too overwhelming. So I just go day by day, without knowing.”

“As an artist, I don’t think I’ll ever feel totally satisfied. Maybe one day I will. But right now that’s not the feeling I have.”

“Beauty is only skin deep. I think what’s really important is finding a balance of mind, body and spirit.”

“But from the time I was very little, it was something I would do all the time, just sing, dance and act. So it wasn’t something that was fake or contrived as I got older.”

“I can only speak for myself, and hope people hear my words and see me on television speaking for myself. And, hopefully, they’ll be able to make their own judgment. And at the end of the day, I just want my work to speak for itself.”

“I could serve coffee using my rear as a ledge.”

“I don’t get anything for free. I pay for all my beauty treatments.”

“I feel I want to grow as an actress and be better. I want to progress as a singer and songwriter, and produce movies and everything. So there’ll be no time when I feel I’ve done it all.”

“I grew up in the Bronx where you would stay up late with your girlfriends, just being silly in our bedrooms, whatever. And I was always the clown.”

    “I have the stardom glow.”

“I judge people on how they smell, not how they look.”

“I just knew that was what I wanted to do. I was going to perform as a singer; I was going to perform as a dancer, and I was, you know, going to do movies and be an actress. I was going to do it or die trying. That’s what my life was.”

“I loved the last album, and it was one hundred percent me. But this is like me two years later, who understands a little bit more about music and understands a little bit more about making an album. I wrote a lot more.”

“I swear to God, I don’t remember anything Gwyneth Paltrow was in. Some people get hot by association. I heard more about her and Brad Pitt and I ever heard about her work.”

“I was always a singer and a dancer, and I always wanted to be an actress. For me, it’s all just one thing.”

“I’d be stupid not to take into consideration that there are certain things people will not consider me for because my name is Lopez. And I know I can do any kind of role. I don’t want anybody to say, Oh, she can’t pull this off. So those are barriers that you have to overcome.”

“I’m very open with my love. I’m passionate and I feel a lot, and I’m never afraid to get close to someone. I’m not afraid of love.”

“If anyone can figure out how to balance my celebrity and my dual careers in music and film, it’s me. I don’t feel frightened; I feel challenged.”

“If you kiss on the first date and it’s not right, then there will be no second date. Sometimes it’s better to hold out and not kiss for a long time. I am a strong believer in kissing being very intimate, and the minute you kiss, the floodgates open for everything else.”

“In Hollywood, she’s revered, she gets nominated for Oscars, but I’ve never heard anyone in the public or among my friends say, ‘Oh, I love Winona Ryder.’ ”

“People assume I’m out there having this great life, but money doesn’t erase the pain. When you’re young you barrel through life, making choices without thinking of repercussions. A few years down the line, you wake up in a certain place and wonder how the hell you got there.”

“People equate sexy with promiscuous. They think that because I’m shaped this way, I must be scandalous - like running around and bringing men into my hotel room. But it’s just the opposite. ”

“So I sat down with him and portrayed more the side of the character he needed to see. Which is what I do when I go in for an interview for a part I like. As much as you think you’re dealing with creative people, they see you for what your image is out there.”

“You know, maybe I was just born in the wrong time, but I love all things romantic. Puffy understands that. For my last birthday, he covered my hotel room floor with rose petals and had flowers and candles all over the room.”
