    Bio:

Demetria Gene Guynes was born November 11, 1962 to Virginia and Danny Guynes in Roswell, New Mexico. Her parents divorced when Demi was age 10, but remarried two months later. The family moved numerous times before her parents divorced for a final time in 1975. This same year Virginia, Demi, and Demi’s younger brother, Morgan, moved to West Hollywood.

At age 13, Demi discovered that Danny Guynes was not her real father. In fact, her real father was Charles Harmon who had been married to Virginia briefly in early 1962. At age 16, Demi dropped out of school. Between 16 and 18, she worked odd jobs and was photographed to a be a pin up girl in Europe. During these years of odd jobs, Demi was reading scripts because she had decided that she wanted to be an actress.

Demi met guitar player, Freddy Moore, when she was 16. She pursued him and eventually began to date him. Demi and Freddy began their exclusive relationship on August 23, 1979. Soon they moved in together and after a year were married in Las Vegas in February 1980.

Freddy’s band, The Kats, recorded a video for their song “It’s not a Rumour” that Demi appeared in. This video was played in the early days of MTV. The band had been struggling for some time and eventually folded.

While together, Demi and Freddy wrote three songs together. The three songs: “Its Not a Rumour”,”Changes”, and “Heat.” The lyrics to all three of these songs can be found here.

Demi lived a wild life as a rock star’s wife, but also worked hard going on auditions. She got her first film role in a made for TV movie, Choices, in 1981. Later that same year, she got a role in a horror movie, Parasite.

In 1982, Demi got a big break when she was cast as an investigative reporter, Jackie Templeton, on ABC’s Soap Opera, General Hospital. Soon after she debuted she was featured on the cover of US Magazine. At age 19, Demi was famous and successful. After one year, Demi was already looking beyond GH. While working on GH, she also had a small role in a movie, Young Doctors in Love.

In 1984, Demi left General Hopsital and divorced Freddy Moore. She bought a house in Hollywood and moved into it with her mother and brother. About that same time, Demi got her first big role in a film called, Blame It on Rio, which starred Michael Caine.

Soon after, Demi got her first lead role in the film, No Small Affair. Around this same time she had a brief appearance in the television show, The Master, which eventually was spliced together to create the film, Master Ninja I.

It was a chance meeting with Joel Schumacher in the halls of Universal Studios that would take Demi’s career into new territory. He was working on his third feature film, St. Elmo’s Fire, which he had her audition for the role of Jules. Her audition was fantastic and she was cast in the role. Joel insisted that she be clean and sober for this movie. After taking a hard look at herself, Demi entered rehab and then returned to the set of the movie.

Upon its release, St. Elmo’s Fire, was a box office hit. The Washington Post called Demi’s performance “electric.” The film’s stars were soon labelled the “Brat Pack.” It was at this time she began a relationship with Emilio Estevez.

In 1986, Demi Moore appeared in three films; St. Elmo’s Fire, One Crazy Summer, and About Last Night. After these, Demi appeared in the New York theatre production, The Early Girl, by Caroline Kava. She recieved rave reviews for her stage performance.

Next, Demi appeared in the film, Wisdom, with her boyfriend, Emilio Estevez. In the summer of 1986, Demi announced on television that she and Emilio were engaged, but several weeks later the wedding was postponed.

By April 1987, Demi and Emilio went their seperate ways, but remained friends. Coincidentally, while attending Emilio’s Stakeout premiere, where Demi met Bruce Willis in July 1987.

Bruce began to pursue Demi. Soon the two were an item and went public with their relationship at the Emmy Awards in September 1987. In November, Demi Moore and Bruce Willis were married in Las Vegas. The wedding was repeated several weeks later in Hollywood in front of 450 friends and the ordained minister, Little Richard.

In January 1988, Bruce and Demi announced they were expecting their first child. Demi appeared in The Seventh Sign which was released in April 1988.

Rumer Willis was born in August 1989 in Kentucky where Bruce was filming In Country.

Demi’s next film, We’re No Angels, was released in December of 1989. In the summer of 1990, Demi’s film, Ghost, was released. By its second week released, Ghost became the #1 movie in America. Ghost went on to gross over $200 million.
